So, on goes my continued struggle with CND. I would say that it is about over at this point, and that CND is a company that is not cruelty free as they can not show me their policy on the subject.  (See email below).

So I am going to let PETA figure this one out. I will email them and let them do their research and let me know. I truly want CND to be cruelty free, because my clients and I both love the SHELLAC, but an honest answer would be great. And not an apology, for the tone of the email, but an apology that I was not satisfied!! Really? Their customer service is really something to be desired. Onward.....

Hi Tiffany, we are indeed sorry you were not satisfied with the response you received from our customer service department.  CND strives to provide professional, courteous service at all times.
Additionally, please be advised that CND does not currently post its company policies on its website.

Sincerely,

Debbie Waite

Thank you Ms. Waite. This email somehow ended up in my junk box. I did not miss the core of the message. I believed the original message to be standoffish, by stating "CND products are not made for animals, so we do not test on animals." That would be obvious, wouldn't you think? However, there are other companies who make products not for the use on animals, but are still tested on animals. That was my point, and why I was looking for a more substantial answer. I also felt that, as an existing client (Licensed nail technician) using your products on my own clients, that a "friendlier" or "more customer service oriented" response was warranted. Maybe I was incorrect.

Nevertheless, please direct me where to find this information on your website, so that I can show my clients CND's official position on animal testing, which was all I was originally looking for. You'll forgive me, if I don't use your email response as official. Please see my original response from Ms. Rhonda "Dede" Steele below. Maybe your customer service representatives, should have additional training on how to respond to these types of inquiries.

Thank you
Tiffany K. White

Good morning TTers'!! I hope everyone had a GREAT weekend!! I was quite productive, I made a shirt, a skirt, and a dress!! A lot of work, but very satisfying!!

I just wanted to update everyone, on my research on cruelty free/vegan products. I have not yet heard back from CND, about their policy on animal testing. I even posted on their FB wall, the response I received, and nothing. That was over a week ago. So now I need to make some phone calls and get BUSY!! as they say. If you do test on animals, then say it....I will stop using your products, but  would have at least received a response. It's too bad the way companies work, if that's your policy stand by it, but at least respond to an existing client of yours!! SHEEEZ!!

.......more to come!!

Good news!! Julep has responded to my request for the cruelty free policy  See below:

"Hi Tiffany,
Thank you for your inquiry about Julep products. We absolutely DO NOT test on animals! Never have, never will! We only “test” on humans. One of the great things about Julep is we have 4 Nail Parlors and amazing customers that let us test and try products on them all the time! Some of our products do contain animal-derived ingredients (milk, beeswax, etc). Here are some products that are Vegan: Facial for Hands Glycolic Hand Scrub, Julep Essential Cuticle Oil, and any non-red nail polish. You can always look at the ingredient list for any product on our website.
Another great thing about our products is that they are “4 Free”. Unlike some other nail polish brands, our formula does not contain 4 of the most harmful chemicals commonly found in nail polish. We use NO paraben, NO sulphate phthalate, NO DBP, and they are tolene and formaldehyde FREE. We like to say that we took out all of the nasty carcinogens that are found in so many other products. We hope this convinces you even more how Julep can be a brand you will be proud to wear. Please do not hesitate to follow up with us if you have any other questions or concerns. Until next time, have a wonderful day Tiffany!"

I know they were 4 free, but I am happy they are cruelty free, and let us know which products are vegan! I hope this helps you, it did for me!!

Good morning TTers!! I have been really busy trying to get Transformations "Transformed"!! I have been doing some research on how to make the company Cruelty Free and hopefully vegetarian/vegan!! It is a hard and long journey, but I have found some great products that fit this bill:
Zoya, SpaRitual, Butter London, NARS, and Wet n' Wild to name a few. But I wanted to check with CND, because I love my Shellac! Below is the response I received back from an email I sent asking about their policy.

"Hi Tiffany ,
Thank you for contacting CND.
CND creates products from a combination of chemicals, vitamins, and botanicals.
CND is animal friendly as well as environmentally friendly.  We are diligent in our research
and development of safe products and take great pride in providing the finest quality products
to Nail Professionals and Consumers.

There is no need for any type of animal by-products in our products as these are "chemical" treatments.
The CND innovation, "Shellac Power Polish" is not derived from insects.  The Monomers, Oligomers and
film forming Polymers we use are in no way derived from beetle resin.

Also, since CND products are not made for use on animals they are not tested on animals."

Needless to say, I sent another email for more clarification, because animal friendly is not the same as cruelty free, and many companies have products not used on animals, but are tested on animals, so I requested their stated policy on this issue.
So if this something that you are concerned about, just send the company an email to find out their stand on these issues. A good place to start is Logical Harmony, Leaping Bunny or PETA.

Hello TTers!! So I am back from my LA trip with Mimi G Style!!! I had an awesome time and Learned so much!! I purchased tons of fabric (that had to be shipped, because it wouldn’t fit in my suitcase)!! I did not know what to expect, and thought that it may be well above my beginner status of “ 2nd stage newbie”! But it was not at all. We got to ask questions and I finally learned how to finish my knit dress that needed hemming, and my sexy black dress that was too small!!

Kenneth King was in the house as well, and gave us SO MUCH information on finishing and trimming projects-and his work is so BEAUTIFUL!!! I will definitely be taking his classes on Cratsy.com!!! So I am attaching some pics I took, not many-but if you look hard enough you can actually see my brain expanding with knowledge!! LOL!!
